California employees have the right to be paid at least minimum wages for all hours worked. Below are the State of California’s minimum wages, but many California cities have a higher minimum wage. As of January 1, 2022, the minimum wage when an employer has 26 or more employees is $15 per hour, and $14 per hour for employers of 25 or fewer employees.
Employees are entitled to wage statements, duty-free thirty-minute meal breaks, ten-minute rest breaks, and overtime wages for those who work more than 40 hours in a workweek or eight hours in a day.
